It has been a while since Sandy hit our shores. Our community had over three feet of water on the streets, other communities were swept away. We spent almost two weeks without electricity, our barrier island had its access streets blocked with police barricades, even if you could get out, you could not get back in. We did make new friends among our neighbors and that is always a positive thing.
Our businesses were impacted in many ways: Physical damage, economic loses, loss of contracts, no customers = no sales. A full recovery will not be realized until after many summer seasons, if at all. Some businesses closed down, others rebuilt in a effort to restart. Through it all, insurance companies were not so expeditious, FEMA and SBA worked in silos and the frustration kept growing.
Stronger than the storm is the new motto. A good one until the next storm hits. If your business still suffering or even if it is recovering, today I write to encourage you to read below, register for economic losses and apply for a loan, better yet for a grant from the NJEDA.com the deadline is end of July.
